About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Integration and Automation Developer to join our Digital Development Team.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the development, support and enhancement of system integrations, workflow automation solutions, and digital services that support the delivery of critical council services.

Working within a multi-disciplinary development team, you will design, develop, and maintain integrations between corporate applications using APIs, automation platforms, and cloud technologies. You will also support the development of digital forms and business process automation solutions that improve service delivery, reduce manual effort, and enable effective data sharing across the organisation.

As demand for real-time system integration and automation continues to grow, this role will be instrumental in helping the council achieve its digital transformation ambitions while ensuring the resilience and sustainability of our integration services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test and maintain system integrations between internal and external applications.
  • Develop and support API-based solutions using modern integration techniques and standards.
  • Design, develop & embed AI‑enabled services, including agentic AI solutions and Copilot‑based tools.
  • Create and maintain automated workflows using Microsoft Power Automate and related technologies.
  • Develop and support digital forms and online services using the Granicus GovService platform.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues, ensuring minimal disruption to business services.
  • Produce technical documentation, support materials, and implementation plans.
  • Ensure solutions comply with security, governance, and data protection requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of integration standards, best practices, and future architecture.
  • Support knowledge sharing and continuous improvement across the Digital Development Team.
  • Design & Develop AI enabled services

Essential Criteria

Technical Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience designing and developing system integrations between multiple business applications.
  • Experience working with REST APIs and web services.
  • Experience using JSON and XML data formats.
  • Experience developing automated workflows using Microsoft Power Automate.
  • Experience troubleshooting, testing, and supporting integration solutions in a live environment.
  • Understanding of authentication and security standards such as OAuth, API keys, and secure data transfer methods.
  • Experience working with SQL databases and querying data.
  • Experience producing technical documentation and support procedures.
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle methodologies and change management processes.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret complex business requirements and develop effective technical solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a technical team and across service areas.

Qualifications

  • Degree, HND, relevant technical qualification, or equivalent demonstrable experience in software development, integration development, or a related field.

Desirable Criteria

Technical Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience working with Granicus GovService (formerly Forms and Workflow).
  • Experience developing digital forms and workflow solutions.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform technologies, including Power Apps.
  • Experience working with Azure Integration Services or Azure Logic Apps.
  • Experience using API management platforms.
  • Experience integrating cloud-based SaaS applications.
  • Experience working within local government or the public sector.
  • Experience using source control tools such as Git or Azure DevOps.
  • Knowledge of data governance, master data management, and enterprise integration principles.
