Digital innovation plays a key role in this transformation, and as we continue to expand our digital capabilities, we are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Digital Developer to join our Digital Development team.

This role is ideally suited to a developer with at least 2 years’ experience working within a development environment and a strong interest in the Microsoft Power Platform technology stack, including Power Apps, Power Automate, SharePoint Online, and Dataverse. You will help develop, maintain, and optimise secure, accessible, and user-centred digital solutions that support council services and improve outcomes for residents and staff.

Reporting to the Lead Digital Developer, you will work closely with developers, Business Analysts, project managers, and service areas across the organisation to deliver innovative applications, workflows, and automation solutions. The role will involve both developing new Power Platform solutions and supporting and enhancing existing applications to ensure they remain reliable, scalable, and aligned to business needs.

Key responsibilities:

· Design, develop, test, and implement solutions using Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps, Power Automate, and Dataverse.

· Develop new business applications, workflows, and automation solutions in line with organisational requirements and development standards.

· Maintain, support, troubleshoot, and optimise existing Power Platform applications and flows to ensure reliability, performance, and usability.

· Work closely with the Lead Developer and wider Digital Development team to deliver technical solutions aligned to business priorities and strategic objectives.

· Participate in the full software development lifecycle including requirements gathering, solution design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support.

· Support the continuous improvement of existing applications by identifying opportunities for optimisation, automation, and enhanced user experience.

· Assist in managing and maintaining Power Platform environments, solutions, deployments, and release processes in accordance with governance and best practice.

· Ensure solutions are developed in accordance with security, compliance, accessibility, and data protection requirements.

· Produce and maintain clear technical documentation, support documentation, and development standards.

About you:

We are looking for someone with a strong interest in public sector digital services and the following skills and experience:

Essential:

· Experience building and maintaining Canvas Apps and within enterprise environments.

· Strong understanding of Power Automate cloud flows, including automation design, troubleshooting, and optimisation.

· Working autonomously on smaller or low complexity projects, or as part of a larger project team responsible for a particular deliverable or area of delivery.

· Maintain and improve existing codebases and contribute to new projects.

· Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable fixes

· Strong awareness of security roles, permissions, governance, and compliance considerations within Power Platform.

· Understanding of solution management, environments, deployment processes, and application lifecycle management (ALM).

· Familiarity with governance frameworks, CoE Toolkit, and platform administration

· Creating and managing SharePoint sites and permissions.

· Good communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

· Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively across multiple projects and support activities.

Desirable:

· Experience of using AI to assist in development.

· Knowledge of integrating Power Platform solutions with Microsoft 365 services and third-party systems via APIs and connectors.

· Understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for Power Platform deployments.

· Understanding of Agile delivery practices and collaborative development environments.

· Knowledge of Azure services and integrations relevant to Power Platform solutions.

· Experience of integrating Power Apps with external services through custom connectors, REST APIs and web services.

· Knows and uses HTTP connectors, Parse JSON and dynamic expressions.

· Manage user roles, security permissions, and environment access via Power Platform Admin Centre
