About the Role

Are you passionate about optimising IT assets and leading change? We are seeking an experienced Asset Management Team Lead to join our Digital Services team within Corporate Services and Transformation. This is a pivotal role, responsible for managing and optimising the organisation’s IT assets, overseeing operational planning, and leading asset management initiatives that support our technology infrastructure and business goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies for effective management of IT assets (hardware, software, licences).
  • Lead initiatives to optimise asset utilisation, drive cost savings, and improve performance.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of IT assets from procurement to disposal.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures for asset management.
  • Lead on the continuous improvement and redesign of IT asset management processes, ensuring they remain efficient, effective, and aligned with organisational objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, automate manual tasks, and implement best practices within ITAM.
  • Take ownership of the asset management database, ensuring it is consistently accurate, up to date, and relevant to organisational needs.
  • Oversee the regular review and maintenance of asset records, ensuring data integrity and compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Manage the stores function, ensuring efficient stock levels and high-quality service.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of asset management professionals.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with vendors and service providers.
  • Manage budgets and conduct financial analysis to inform purchasing decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and organisational standards.
  • Analyse asset performance data and present reports to management.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and best practices in IT asset management.

About You

You will have:

  • Significant experience managing IT Asset Management functions in a large organisation.
  • Substantial experience in hardware lifecycle management and delivering change in a senior IT service environment.
  • Proven ability to manage, motivate, and develop staff.
  • Strong interpersonal, advisory, and communication skills, with the ability to present technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience managing relationships with partners and suppliers.
  • A relevant degree or equivalent recognised IT qualification, or relevant senior-level experience.
  • ITIL 4 Foundation Qualification (or willingness to work towards it).
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (or willingness to work towards it).
