An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Professional Services Section to appoint two dynamic and committed individuals to the Highway Design Team as Senior Technicians.
The dedicated team provide a design service to assist with the delivery of the LTP Highways Capital Programme and other capital projects. You will be an effective communicator with excellent organisational skills and capable of working on your own and as part of a team. The purpose of this role is to prepare technical designs, drawings and contract documents for projects, ensuring delivery in accordance with agreed standards, to meet programme and budget targets. You will be encouraged and supported to develop and become an important member of a friendly team.
What skills and experience do you need to have:
- Proficient in using Autocad
- Experience in design and specification of highway design schemes
- Knowledge of health and safety procedures and CDM legislation
- Technical, analytical and problem-solving skills relative to highway design
- Ability to control and manage budgets
- Good communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills with attention to detail
- Be enthusiastic, versatile and self-motivated with the ability to work well as part of a team
- Ability to prioritise workload and working to deadlines on a number of diverse projects
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individuals with:
Experience in highway design and construction, with a thorough understanding of design standards, construction methods, materials, and industry regulations.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with experience liaising with elected members, contractors, developers, and stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving abilities and the capability to make critical decisions.
A commitment to upholding health & safety standards and ensuring best practices are followed.
A BTec HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience in highway design).
