We are seeking an experienced, motivated and relationship‑focused Health Partnership Manager to provide maternity cover for this well‑established and high‑impact role. This is a unique opportunity to lead strategic health and wellbeing work across South Derbyshire, influence population‑level outcomes, and help drive change that improves the lives of residents. The role sits at the heart of our health and wellbeing system. It works across local government, Public Health, VCSE partners, and community settings to reduce health inequalities, increase physical activity, and strengthen community resilience.

As Health Partnership Manager, you will:

  • Lead and coordinate strategic health and wellbeing programmes
    • Deliver against Public Health–funded priorities, as outlined in the Healthier Communities Plan and related workstreams.
    • Ensure health, prevention and inequality reduction are embedded in key council strategies, policies and service plans.
    • Provide expert advice, data‑informed insight, and strategic influence across the council and wider partnership system.
  • Represent the council at multi‑agency strategic boards and thematic groups
    • Your role is to understand emerging opportunities and challenges, build strong relationships, and facilitate collaborative, solution‑focused working across the sector.
  • Lead and support delivery of physical activity and health improvement programmes
    • Oversee and support the Exercise by Referral programme, both within the leisure centre and its expansion into the community setting.
    • Support triage, identify operational efficiencies, monitor impact, and champion continuous improvement.
    • Work alongside delivery staff to ensure services are accessible, targeted and responsive to need.
  • Partnership, insight and community impact
    • Strengthen the capacity of local VCSE organisations, statutory partners and community stakeholders.
    • Build community insight to understand health needs and shape services accordingly.
    • Contribute to quarterly Public Health reporting, strategic planning updates, and partnership briefings

We are looking for someone who is a creative problem‑solver with the ability to think strategically while also maintaining a strong eye for detail. This person will bring a natural ability to build trusting relationships and communicate effectively with a wide range of partners, whether through written reports, presentations, or facilitating discussions. They will have experience in public health, community development, physical activity or a related field, supported by a strong understanding of the wider determinants of health and the factors that influence population wellbeing. We are seeking someone who is highly organised, able to manage their own workload and balance multiple priorities across strategic projects and operational delivery. Experience of project management, people management or budget oversight would be advantageous. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive, collaborative approach that helps drive shared outcomes across the partnership. Above all, we are looking for someone who can navigate complexity with confidence, build consensus, and turn insight into meaningful action that improves health and reduces inequalities across South Derbyshire.
