An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Derbyshire County Council as our Head of Service to lead the Financial Management and Strategy Team

You will lead and inspire our organisation to deliver on our Enterprising Council vision, supporting transformational change and our newly centralised business partnering finance operating model.
This role is an opportunity for you to really make a difference playing a key leadership role to transform and develop our financial services to help support the Council with its upcoming challenges, savings targets and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities;
- Leading the Financial Management and Strategy function for the finance service to ensure effective accountancy and financial management services are delivered throughout the organisation, delivering financial based solutions and prioritisation to meet Council objectives.
- Develop deliver and evaluate the Council’s financial management strategy in accordance with the Councils financial strategies e.g., Finance Strategy, Treasury Management Strategy and Budget Monitoring Policy.
- Develop and lead on financial projects and change programmes that impact Council wide in order to meet strategic, operational and Council priorities.
- Maintain and develop accurate financial management systems to support the delivery of effective and accurate financial services in accordance with the requirements of the Financial Management Code.
Experience & Qualifications required:
- A CCAB qualification (or equivalent).
- Significant experience of leadership and operating at a senior management level in a complex organisation.
- Significant experience of organisational management and business partnering in a large complex finance organisation.
- Experience of operating collaboratively in a senior management team, influencing strategy and service delivery.
- Experience of managing and motivating staff to deliver strong performance.
- Knowledge of governance and legislation and how they can be applied in a local government environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, advisory and negotiating skills and the ability to influence and persuade people of all levels.

This role is contractually based in Matlock, Derbyshire, but as part of our Modern Ways of Working programme we are currently working on a hybrid basis. There'll be an opportunity to discuss future working arrangements at interview.
