Our ambition is to work together with our partners and communities to be an enterprising council, deliver value for money and enable local people and places to thrive.   Our Financial Management and Strategy Team provides a centralised business partnering finance function to support our services in delivering that vision.  Faced with the financial challenges common across Local Government, the Council has an ambitious refreshed Council Plan to deliver financial sustainability and support our residents and communities to thrive.

We are seeking an experienced qualified finance professional to work in the Adult Social Care & Health Finance Team within Financial Management and Strategy. Reporting to the Senior Finance Business Partner, you will be working with a range of service managers and budget holders to deliver high quality and effective financial information and support to a service area with high value, demand-led budgets and a range of transformation projects.  The role encompasses revenue budget monitoring and financial planning, year-end activities, grant accounting and external reporting and the provision of financial advice to support decision making.  You will use your managerial skills to motivate and support a small team of qualified and unqualified staff.  The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar role, have excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills and be skilled in the use of financial systems.

Our Financial Management and Strategy Team is contractually based in Matlock, Derbyshire, but as part of our Modern Ways of Working programme we are currently working on a hybrid basis. There'll be an opportunity to discuss future working arrangements at interview.
