One Team. One Council. One Purpose.

Derbyshire Dales is a council with ambition, flair and imagination with a real drive and focus on continuous improvement. Our “One Team, One Council, One Purpose” approach is about working together for a brighter future, a better Derbyshire Dales. To support this, we are now seeking to recruit an Environmental Health Technician to our Commercial Team to complement the existing resource and help deliver greater resilience both within Environmental Health and the wider Regulatory Service team.

Regulatory Services delivers the Environmental Health, Development Management, Licensing and Estates functions for the Council and works closely with Emergency Planning and Building Control.  The post holder will support the Environmental Health Manager, Principal Environmental Health Officer and immediate colleagues in delivering a diverse range of Commercial Team duties and responsibilities predominantly with a Food Safety and Health & Safety remit.

Applications are invited from candidates with a BTEC (or equivalent) in Environmental Health, who have experience in enforcement work plus environmental and public health principles.  We are looking for a candidate who has energy, enthusiasm and excellent communication skills in order to make a positive impact and help boost service delivery.

The Derbyshire Dales is a beautiful place to live, work and visit, which benefits from some fantastic towns and countryside, all within easy reach of Sheffield, Manchester, Nottingham and Derby.

As a suitably qualified officer this role will offer diversity, giving you the opportunity to make a real impact.

For an informal discussion about the post please contact Dave Cowley, Principal Environmental Health Officer on 01629 761249, or alternatively Amanda Goodwill, Environmental Health Manager on 01629 761316.

Please tell us within the application why you would like to be considered for this post and how your skills fit the requirements detailed on the Job Description & Person Specification.
