Job Details and Requirements
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Enforcement Team who are dedicated to tackling environmental crime such as fly tipping, littering, dog fouling and abandoned vehicles. Our Enforcement Team also deal with reports of stray dogs in the community and kennels them when necessary.
A typical day may include:
- Providing support and enforcement for local residents and businesses;
- Inspecting a business to ensure their commercial waste arrangements are compliant.
- Visiting an abandoned vehicle;
- Patrolling and issuing fixed penalty notices for littering or dog fouling;
- Capturing or receiving and transporting stray dogs following a complaint;
- Undertaking a Police and Criminal Evidence interview;
- Attending court to give evidence.
As an Environmental Enforcement Officer you will work with our partners at Derbyshire Police, the Environment Agency and Derbyshire County Council as well as other Council Officers to resolve issues together, share intelligence or support their work. It’s a varied and exciting role and if you are passionate about the environment, like working outdoors and engaging with the public then this role is for you.
Whilst previous enforcement experience may be beneficial, an interest in protecting the environment and our communities, a willingness and ability to undertake additional training, excellent customer care and IT skills and the ability to communicate effectively will help you succeed. You will have use of a Council vehicle and a current full UK Driving Licence is also essential.
As you progress you will be provided technical environmental enforcement training to help us ensure we have an effective and skilled team, but also to help you develop.
