Derbyshire Adult Community Education Service (DACES) has a 18.5 hour per week (2.5 days) vacancy for a Programme Development Worker (PDW), based at our Long Eaton Adult Community Education Centre. Occasional working from home will be considered.

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic adult learning professional wanting to make a difference to the life chances of Derbyshire residents who are furthest from learning and from work. This role will focus creating a different approach to marketing and communications.

The Community Learning reform has led to us wanting to build on our existing partnership work to promote the courses and opportunities we can offer to Derbyshire residents.

Our Adult Education Service will be looking to promote and develop relationships with community and third party organisations.

There is still room for printed materials and social media, but our new approach is looking creatively at how we can share the message of education and ‘loving learning locally’.

You will be joining us at an exciting time as we move our programme of Community Learning (non-qualification) courses to a new ‘Tailored Learning’ programme. The purpose of Tailored Learning is to support learners into employment and to help them progress to further learning. Alongside this, we will also help them improve their health and wellbeing, equip parents/carers to support their child’s learning and develop stronger and more integrated communities. We are also tasked with helping those with learning disabilities to support their personal development and access to independent living.

The name "Tailored Learning" was chosen by government funders to highlight the importance of being adaptable and responsive to the specific needs of learners. We also need to be responsive to local needs, working closely with community partners and employers.

The successful applicant should be:

  • a talented and experienced professional who has a history of developing relationships to create shared benefits
  • passionate about adult education and the power of communications to reach the people in our communities that would benefit most
  • experienced in using social media

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Work with partners to ensure we broaden our reach to more people
  • Work alongside our delivery colleagues to ensure that they are equipped to market courses
  • Understand the barriers to learning faced by people furthest from education
  • Able to work dynamically with Microsoft Office software

Provisional Interview Date: Week commencing 16 December 2024

Due to this post having access to children and/or vulnerable adults, the successful candidate will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
