We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic adult learning professional wanting to make a difference to the life chances of Derbyshire residents who are furthest from learning and from work.

You will be joining us at an exciting time as we move our programme of Community Learning (non-qualification) courses to a new ‘Tailored Learning’ programme. The purpose of Tailored Learning is to support learners into employment and to help them progress to further learning. Alongside this, we will also help them improve their health and wellbeing, equip parents/carers to support their child’s learning and develop stronger and more integrated communities.

The name "Tailored Learning" was chosen by government funders to highlight the importance of being adaptable and responsive to the specific needs of learners. We also need to be responsive to local needs, working closely with community partners and employers.

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Develop meaningful partnerships with organisations working to support people those furthest from learning and work
  • Work with Job Centres, Derbyshire Careers Service and employers to develop learners’ employability and enterprise skills, including those needed for creative small businesses
  • Work with partners to ensure we broaden our reach to more people and particularly those in our hardest to reach communities in the Chesterfield, Bolsover and North East Derbyshire area
  • Develop new and innovative tailored learning programmes to meet the needs of these communities
  • Work alongside our qualification and skills team colleagues to ensure that learners have clear progression routes into qualifications and employment.
  • Understand the barriers to learning faced by some people and be able to put in place strategies to help them engage with learning.
  • Work with partners to develop programmes and initiatives to improve the health and wellbeing of targeted communities
