Being physically active is good for us, for society, health, and even for the economy. There’s no doubt about that. But how do we get young people moving more?
That’s a bit trickier, and the need varies from place to place, programme to programme, and person to person. As one of 43 Active Partnerships (APs) across England, Active Partners Trust (APT), working in Derbyshire and Notts, teams up with local councils, community groups, businesses, healthcare organisations, charities, schools and more to find out what’s needed. That means asking questions, making suggestions, sharing our knowledge, finding the right partners, and spotting opportunities, all to make movement part of everyday life. Because when we all work together, we can better understand, reach, and support the people who need it most.
Making our Move – Our shared vision for Uniting the Movement in Notts and Derbyshire is a new plan to guide our and partners’ work over the next 10 years – where we work and how we work.
Opening School Facilities (OSF) Programme Lead – Your main areas of responsibility:
To support the successful delivery of the Opening Schools’ Facilities (OSF) programme up to 2025.
Opening Schools’ Facilities is a Department of Education funded programme for schools. It will provide schools with all important funding to open their sports’ facilities beyond their current school operating times. This is to allow more pupils, their families and community/ sports clubs more opportunities to be physically active in a safe and accessible setting.
This role will require someone who understands young people and communities and is able to find out what they want and the barriers they may face to be more active. You will need to be able to build strong relationships with schools, understandiing the challenges schools face, whilst encouraging them to align with the programme.
The funding is to support schools:
- in areas with high levels of deprivation,
- with a high percentage of pupils from culturally diverse communities,
- with a high percentage of young people in receipt of free school meals,
- and/or pupil with special educational needs or disabilities.
Secondly, you will support the roll out of Active Lives Children and Young People survey, encouraging and assisting schools to complete the survey, maintaining the response rate achieved in 2022.
