The Governing Board of Coton-in-the-Elms C of E Primary School is seeking to appoint a permanent skilled and nurturing Teaching and Learning Assistant to join our wonderful school.

In June 2023, the school had a full OFSTED inspection, and we are proud of our GOOD judgement with OUTSTANDING for Personal Development. We are proud of our SIAMS inspection form June 2024, recognising the excellent provision we offer our families. With such a committed, genuine staff team and wonderful pupils, our school is a truly special place.

We are looking for someone who can provide interventions and support to our vulnerable pupils and at times,  provide cover for teachers in class.

It would be beneficial if you were interested in working alongside our SENDCO, to provide both pastoral and academic support.  The successful candidate will work primarily within the Key Stage 1 classroom supporting children with additional needs. They will also be part of our Little Wandle Reading Squad who will support the teaching of reading from reception to Year 3. We are a compassionate school who will consider a flexible working pattern for the right candidate.

The successful candidates must:

  • Be an enthusiastic and dedicated person who will encourage and engage with pupils.
  • Have the patience and understanding to work with young children demonstrating outstanding care and support for pupils.
  • Have experience in school working with pupils.
  • Demonstrate willingness to engage in professional development and whole school initiatives.
  • Have the ability to work as part of team, forming positive relationships with adults and pupils.
  • Put kindness at the centre of everything in order to develop positive relationships.
  • Be willing to complete any statutory training.
  • It would be desirable for someone to have a level 3 or higher qualification in order to be able to cover classes (this will be paid at the higher HLTA rate).

With such a committed, genuine staff team and wonderful pupils, our school is a truly special place.

Provisional Interview Date:  16/17 April 2026

Due to this post having access to children and/or vulnerable adults, the successful candidate will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check. The possession of a criminal record will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this post, as all cases are judged individually according to the nature of the role and information provided.
