Are you passionate about making a difference to children with SEND? We’re seeking a caring, patient, and proactive Teaching Assistant to join our friendly team at St Oswald's C of E Primary School. 

About the role:
You’ll work 1:1 with a KS2 child who is working with Key stage one you will be required to provide tailored support to meet their educational and care needs. Your work will include delivering the Key Stage 1 curriculum, interventions, supporting SEMH activities, and providing You will help create an inclusive and nurturing environment where every child can thrive.

You will require knowledge and experience of using the Key stage 1 curriculum and specific interventions. You will be required to be physically adept having to shadow them at all times, managing and supporting in PE sessions alongside the child is crucial.

About you:

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEND is essential.
  • You will have prior experience with sensory input time specifically focused on self-calming strategies.

It is essential that you have worked with a child who has an EHCP and

  • have the knowledge and skills to disseminate the knoweldge from the EHCP into practice and provide reports/feedback liked to their targets.
  • You will be able to gather and assess information to enable new interim targets to be set for an EHCP
  •  You have a Level 2 qualification of equivalent (or willingness to work towards this)
  • You have knowledge and understanding of developmental needs and approaches to Neurodiversity
  • You have a knowledge of Key stage 1 objectives for core and non-core subjects.
  • You have the skills and knowledge to support positive behaviours
  • You have the knowledge and skills in risk assessing for a child’s specific behavioural needs
  • You have the knowledge and skills in working with children who display verbal and physical behaviour.
  • You are committed to working in partnership with colleagues and external agencies.
  • You have good communication skills; both written and oral
  • You are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
