The Governors of Buxton Infant School are seeking to appoint a SEND Teaching and Learning Assistant to work in two slightly different roles within school.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- A flexible approach, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team and to use initiative in dealing with situations effectively.
- Good communication skills.
- Good levels of Literacy and Numeracy.
- Ability to maintain relevant pupil records as required and feedback to the class teacher.
- Ability to prepare equipment and resources for the children under direction of the class teacher.
- A sense of humour, empathy with children of this age, a caring personality and confidential nature.
The post involves working 2 days a week (Wednesday & Thursday) to support one particular child with an EHCP. This child requires a high level of support and the successful candidate will be able to think creatively and flexibly to meet the child’s needs. This post is job shared with an existing staff member.
The additional 2 ½ days (Monday, Tuesday and Friday afternoon) are to work with a number of children as part of our SEND team.
The combined post will be for 24 hours and 35 minutes per week, over 4 ½ days, as follows:
Monday 08:40 – 15:15
Tuesday 08:40 – 15:15
Wednesday 08:40 – 15:15
Thursday 08:40 – 15:15
Friday 13:00 – 15:15
