The Governors of Norbriggs Primary School are seeking to appoint an outstanding Teaching Assistant to work 1-1 with a Year 2 child who has multiple SEN for 12 months, to cover a maternity leave.
The child in question is adorable. He is happy and positive and very enthusiastic about everything he does. He has Williams syndrome. He spends much of his day in a wheelchair but is encouraged to stand and walk as much as he is able to. He needs physiotherapy daily for his physical development. He has no language but can communicate through signing, vocal and facial expressions and pointing.
There is significant support in place to ensure that the successful candidate is well equipped to continue the development of this lovely little boy. The ability to work as part of a team is essential, as are excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills, sound knowledge of IT, ability to work to deadlines and prioritise workload, and a good understanding of confidentiality. You should also have GCSEs in English and Maths at Grade C or above and be willing to undertake relevant training. Experience of supporting children with social, emotional and behavioural needs is desirable. The post holder will be communicating directly with pupils, parents, staff and other agencies internal and external to the school and should be able to exercise and promote customer care and adopt a flexible approach to the work undertaken.
