The Governors of Clowne Junior School are looking to appoint a Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant in September 2026. The post is fixed term but may be extended if additional funding is secured.
The role involves working under the direction and guidance of class teachers to supervise and provide support for children with complex needs, which will enable them to learn independently and in group situations. As well as general Teaching Assistant duties, the role will also involve supporting children over the lunch period. Pupil needs will determine which year groups the role will be allotted to.
The successful candidate will be positive, flexible and able to respond to the needs of our children. They should have a good level of communication, English and Maths skills. They should also have experience of working with primary age children.
If you are a team player, positive role model and can work under your initiative, then we would love to hear from you. Visits to the school are warmly welcomed. Candidates are welcome to arrange a visit prior to application by calling Mrs Allen to make an appointment on 01246 810416.
Provisional Interview Date: Week commencing 22 June 2026
Due to this post having access to children and/or vulnerable adults, the successful candidate will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check. The possession of a criminal record will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this post, as all cases are judged individually according to the nature of the role and information provided.
