From September 2024 we seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, hard-working and highly motivated SEND Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team at Grange Primary School

We are an inclusive school where the development of the whole child continues to be at the heart of our philosophy of ‘Living, Learning and Laughing’.

We are looking for someone who:

  • is energetic, creative and passionate about learning and development.
  • is an excellent practitioner who has high expectations and aspirations for all children.
  • has previous experience, skills and the relevant qualifications to effectively support SEND children in their early stages of learning and development
  • is able to draw on a bank of prior skills and knowledge to effectively support children in their next steps in learning and development.
  • Has a comprehensive knowledge of alternative forms of communication and experience of working with pre-verbal children.
  • has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a great sense of humour.
  • contributes to the overall aims and ethos of our school.

This is a permanent position from September 2024.

We welcome applications from teaching assistants who have had previous experience supporting children with SEND both on a 1:1 basis and in small groups. Applicants will be able to demonstrate their passion for SEND and be able to clearly articulate the impact and importance of both high-quality teaching and access to a bespoke curriculum for SEND children.

You would be expected to lead interventions both 1:1 and in small group situations, in all areas of the curriculum, as well as contribute to the planning process. You would be mainly supporting autistic children who have differences with communication and interaction and therefore it is essential you have experience and/or knowledge of supporting the early development of language. On occasion, you may also be required to participate in meetings that concern the educational provision for the children you support.

As a school we can offer you:

  • A caring and supportive school team who put children at the heart of everything they do.
  • Excellent CPD opportunities and leadership support.
  • Highly motivated children and a very supportive community.
  • A happy place to work with a fantastic team spirit.
  • Unique school grounds ideal for a broad curriculum

The successful candidate will start employment at Grange Primary School at the start of the new academic year which is Wednesday 4 September 2024.

Visits to the school are encouraged.  Please call the school office on 0115 9734956 to arrange a time which is convenient we will do our best to accommodate you, wherever possible.

Grange Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Provisional Interview Date: Week commencing 24 June 2024.

Due to this post having access to children and/or vulnerable adults, the successful candidate will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check. The possession of a criminal record will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this post, as all cases are judged individually according to the nature of the role and information provided.
