We are looking to appoint a Support Worker to Derbyshire Information Advice and Support Service for SEND (DIASS). DIASS is a statutory service which is funded by the County Council but operates at arms-length to provide impartial information, advice and support to children and young people special educational needs and disabilities and their parent / carers.
The role entails being an effective communicator, including working on the telephone advice line and face to face work supporting parents / carers / children / young people in discussions with education settings, early year settings, schools, colleges and SEN practitioners. Successful applicants will need the ability to quickly absorb the necessary legal training and other policy background and to be able to operate robustly and independently.
A background working in special educational needs and / or disabilities will be an advantage as will experience in advocacy or advice work.
The work base is Matlock with homeworking. The postholder will also be required to travel to other parts of the County.
