We are looking to appoint a Welfare Support Assistant who will provide a comprehensive welfare support service to pupils and staff within school.  This will include providing first aid support to staff and children, and carrying out physiotherapy with children with additional needs, following directions from medical professionals.  You will also be responsible for keeping records for first aid and administration of medicines.  You will have extensive first aid experience, ideally with an up-to-date First Aid Qualification, and have experience of providing welfare support to children.  You will be able to demonstrate resilience and calmness in stressful situations, and show care and compassion for those who are distressed or hurt.

Arboretum is a Good school, as confirmed at our last Ofsted short inspection (November 2017). The inspectors felt that: “The pupils’ positive attitudes to learning and their respectful behaviour reflect the school’s values and the leaders’ good work to promote pupils’ personal development and welfare”.

We are a large 643 place primary (which includes 32 children in our 2 year old unit and 78 in our 3 year old nursery), with a rich ethnic mix of delightful and well-behaved children. Our modern school has recently been refurbished and extensively extended and sits in large attractive grounds.  We pride ourselves in our caring ethos and the value we place in our dedicated and friendly staff teams.  We are a popular school, and have a waiting list for most year groups.  Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  Assessment and testing of candidate’s suitability to work with children is an integral part of our selection process.  An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will also be required for the successful candidate. .  Online searches are carried out on all shortlisted candidates and/or conditionally appointed candidates for positions within Derby Diocesan Academy Trust.

We warmly invite prospective candidates to visit the school to find out more about us and the role.  To arrange a visit, please call the school office on 01332 291140 or email jobs@arboretum.derby.sch.uk . Please also take a few minutes to watch our school video on our Welcome page of our website www.arboretum.derby.sch.uk to get a true flavour of Arboretum Primary School.
