An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Employment and Skills team for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join as Education and Employment Support Officers.

We are recruiting to three posts:

  • 2 x Education and Employment Support Officers: Proactive Enrolment – Electively Home Educated Young People
  • 1 x Education and Employment Support Officer: Youth Employment Support (YES)

These roles play a vital part in supporting young people to make successful transitions into education, employment or training.

The Role

As an Education and Employment Support Officer, you will provide high‑quality, impartial information, advice and guidance to young people, helping them to progress into appropriate post‑16 education, employment or training opportunities. Support will be delivered through a mix of face‑to‑face, group‑based and digital interventions, tailored to individual needs.

Proactive Enrolment Posts (2 roles)

These roles will focus specifically on proactive engagement with young people who are electively home educated, supporting them to:

  • Explore post‑16 education and training options
  • Understand pathways into further education, apprenticeships or employment
  • Overcome barriers to engagement and participation
  • Successfully enrol onto suitable provision

You will work closely with young people, families, education providers and partner agencies to ensure timely and positive progression.

YES Hub Post (1 role)

This role will be based within the Youth Employment Service (YES) Hub, supporting young people through:

  • One‑to‑one guidance and action planning
  • Employability and skills‑focused sessions
  • Collaborative working with employers, training providers and support services
  • Ongoing case management to help young people achieve sustained outcomes

What We are Looking For

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Have experience of supporting young people with education, employment or training pathways
  • Can build positive relationships and motivate young people.
  • Are confident delivering advice and guidance in both one‑to‑one and group settings.
  • Are organised, proactive and able to manage a varied caseload.
  • Are committed to inclusive, person‑centred support.

What We Offer You

  • 27 days annual leave, rising to 32 days after 5 years’ continuous service
  • Flexi‑time scheme, allowing up to 2 extra days off per month
  • Generous Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Incremental annual pay increases
  • Cycle to Work scheme
  • Discounts at selected county leisure centres
  • A wide range of additional employee benefits

Our Youth Employment Support team is contractually based across the county. Future working arrangements can be discussed at interview.
