Derbyshire County Council is seeking a dedicated Tree and Woodland Conservation Advisor to join our Conservation, Heritage and Design Service. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in conserving and improving the county’s tree and woodland resources, contributing to climate resilience, biodiversity, and community wellbeing.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Providing specialist arboriculture and forestry advice.
  • Supporting the delivery of strategic plans and conservation projects.
  • Advising on planning and regulatory frameworks, including administrating Tree Preservation Order applications and enforcements.
  • Promoting the benefits of trees and woodlands to communities and stakeholders.
  • Collaborating with internal teams, local authorities, contractors, and environmental partners.
  • Championing innovation through digital tools, evidence-based practices, and stakeholder engagement.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience in arboriculture or forestry, ideally within a local government or planning context.
  • Strong understanding of tree-related legislation and conservation practices.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across diverse teams.
  • A Level 4 qualification in Arboriculture or Forestry (Level 5 desirable).
  • Willingness to travel across Derbyshire, including remote and rural areas.
