Derbyshire is a beautiful and diverse county with varied and distinct landscapes.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Derbyshire County Council’s Conservation, Heritage and Design Service. The Service consists of officers with expertise in built heritage conservation, landscape architecture, archaeology, ecology and urban design, and hosts the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site Coordination Team as well as the Derbyshire Historic Environment Record.
We are looking for a Nature Based Solutions Manager to join this multidisciplinary service to manage the ‘natural environment’ section of the Team. You will need a developed understanding of natural capital, ecosystem services and biodiversity net gain.
We are looking for an individual with management experience who will be able to assist the Council in:
- Discharging its planning function in relation to ecology
- Ensuring compliance with the Environment Act, in particular biodiversity net gain duties
- Taking advantage of the opportunities that the Environment Act presents, including offsite biodiversity net gain delivery
- Developing an investment framework and identifying investment opportunities in relation to the natural environment that build on the successful delivery of the Derbyshire Local Nature Recovery Strategy, and
- Managing the arboriculture team to address the Council’s health and safety liabilities presented by tree on its Countryside Service’s land and those that could impact on its wider assets, including roads.
