We have an exciting opportunity for a Relief Cycle Hire Warden to join a dedicated team at Middleton Top Countryside Centre, near Wirksworth.
We’re looking for someone to provide a warm welcome and excellent customer service in our high-quality cycle hire centre who will also be part of our Countryside Services team who keep our site well maintained and welcoming for our visitors, including site improvement works and ensuring cleanliness and safety of facilities.
What will you be doing?
Operation of the Cycle Hire Service, including the hiring out of cycles and providing quality customer care, assistance, & advice.
Ensuring safety of the bikes including carrying out routine maintenance, regular cleaning, checking for roadworthiness and adjustment of saddles, handlebars, etc.
Advising on the purchase of new and replacement cycles and on the requirements for spare parts, ancillary equipment etc.
Provide information and assistance to your team and visitors
Opening and closing the centre, as well as handling money, and cashing up.
Work flexibly as part of a team to meet customer requirements and service needs.
What skills/experience do you need?
Practical countryside and cycle maintenance skills
Awareness of and interest in current environmental issues affecting the countryside
Excellent communication skills to provide information and assistance to the public
Principle duties relating to management of sites and facilities
Maintaining bikes to a safe standard

The job requires working as and when needed in the Summer Season on Cycle Warden duties from 1st April until October half term.

Saturday and Sunday hours will be paid at plain time where it is part of your normal working pattern unless it is between 7pm and 7am, where enhanced rates of pay apply. Enhanced pay rates are paid for Bank Holiday working.
