An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Social Work Manager Position in Starting Point – which is Derbyshire’s front door service.   This service considers requests for services for children and their families across Derbyshire with reference to the threshold document to consider the threshold for intervention. Critical to the role is the development of positive working relationships with partner agencies and the localities across Derbyshire to ensure effective working together.

This post does not currently have direct face to face contact with service users or the members of the public however work is being undertaken in terms of continuing professional development in this area in order to meet Social Work England standards

The pace of the work is fast at the front door and the  Social Work Team Manager position is crucial to support day to day service delivery within Starting Point.

The Team Managers are responsible for ensuring work received into Starting Point is allocated and triaged appropriately by the Referral Co-ordinators.  They confirm the outcomes of all contacts through signing off all decisions made.

The Social Work Team Managers Chair Strategy Discussions on a daily basis.  Currently the number of child protection referrals received into the service are over 250 a month and Strategy Discussions at over 100 a month.

The Social Work Team Managers provide advice and guidance to all staff, line manage and supervise Practice Supervisors, Social Workers and Referral Co-ordinators.

The Social Work Team Managers lead on day-to-day delivery of service and lead team meetings.

The Team Managers oversee the performance of staff and compliance of performance targets – working together compliance.

The Social Work Team Managers complete regular reflective case reviews and audits of files as part of the LA improvement framework

The Team Managers support the Head of Service.
