Derbyshire is a large authority divided into six localities: Amber Valley, Chesterfield, Erewash, High Peak (Buxton, Glossop, New Mills, and Matlock), Bolsover and North-East, and South Derbyshire. Alongside our Locality teams we have a countywide Children with Disabilities Service.
Our Fostering Service operates across High Peak, South Derbyshire, North East Derbyshire & Chesterfield, plus four county-wide teams - Disability Fostering Team, Contract Care Fostering Team, Family and Friends Assessment Team and Mainstream Assessment Team. This post is based in the Contract Care Team with the office base in Matlock and will involve travel across the county.
This Supervising Social Worker post will primarily support and supervise Derbyshire Fostering Families to provide the best care to children across the county including those living with Family and Friends. The Contract Care fostering team works with foster carers who provide enhanced care and support to children and young people who may otherwise be living in Children’s Homes. Our young people have complex needs, requiring a higher level of understanding, support and guidance.
There is currently a consultation taking place to reshape our Fostering Service and realign some existing posts, and therefore you may be required to undertake other aspects of the fostering social work role such as the completion of mainstream or family and friends fostering assessments, and the support/supervision of other types of Foster Carers.
