We currently have an exciting opportunity, ideally for experienced social worker, to join our children in care team in Chesterfield. We are looking for a social worker who has an excellent understanding of children in care social work and demonstrates an aspiration to promote the best outcomes for children. We would also welcome applications from social workers who are interested in this specific area of work and are looking to develop and broaden their skills. 

You will be joining a team with a staff group whom have a range of experience and knowledge. The line manager has extensive experience within children in care and child protection and is part of a settled and committed management team.

It is essential that you have experience of creating rapport and building effective relationships with young people and families, to enable flexible and thoughtful social work practice and affect positive change in the lives of children and families.

Appointable post holder will require a Social Worker Qualification and Social Work England Registration. Please refer to the job description. 

Over the past 2 years Derbyshire has successfully recruited to social work posts across the county as part of our strategy to reduce caseloads and promote effective working relationships with children and families through our systemic approach to social work intervention.

For Newly Qualified Social Workers the starting salary is £32,113 pro rata.

In line with our performance capability framework, systemic practice model and continued professional development, qualified registered social workers are eligible to progress from grade 9 to 11, which attracts a salary of between £32,113 up to £38,788 pro rata.

Posts in our child protection and children in care teams currently include a market supplement (in place until the end of June 2023). This is a separate payment made in addition to the basic salary as detailed.
