An exciting opportunity has arisen for three part‑time Family Time Assistants within the North East & Bolsover Locality.

We have the following positions available:

  • Shirebrook Children’s Centre 1 Post, 22 hours and 12 minutes  per week
  • Clay Cross Area Office  2 Posts, 18 hours and 30 minutes per week
The purpose of the role is to support the coordination of Family Time including transportation of children, liaising with professionals and families, and supervising and recording Family Time sessions.

The key responsibilities of the post are:

  • To support and observe the delivery of family time, between a child and their parents/carers. This will include role modelling and demonstrating approaches, intervening and advising as required. This may be delivered virtually or in a Derbyshire County Council building or community setting.
  • Contribute information to parenting assessments and alert managers to changes in family circumstances or needs and respond in emergency situations liaising with colleagues, other agencies, and carers as appropriate.
  • Ensure good communication with parents, carers and foster carers as required to support the effective delivery of family time. Provide appropriate challenge, which may include aspects of conflict and behaviour management.
  • Complete records of work undertaken with families in accordance with the Department’s systems and processes.
  • Ensure the safeguarding of children and young people in accordance with safeguarding procedures, health and safety requirements and relevant processes and practices maintaining the confidentiality of families.
