An exciting opportunity has arisen within Children’s Services for a dynamic and committed individual to lead the Employment and Education Team.
The Employment and Education Team work to connect young people aged between 16-18 to employment, education, and training opportunities. The team also follow up those young people whose educational situation is unknown and offer support to young people who are not in education, employment or training (NEET).
You will work across Derbyshire and will build strong links with schools and training providers. You will lead the team of Employment and Education Officers and ensure the Council meets targets for the statutory return of key data around the NEET and unknown cohort.
What will I be doing:
Providing guidance and challenge to schools, training providers and other partners providing education, employment or training.
Establishing effective arrangements for monitoring young people’s education, employment and training.
Building and sustaining relationships with partners and stakeholders in order to maximise the support offered to young people and their families.
Leading and supporting a team of Employment and Education Officers.
Maintaining communication with Senior Leadership Team, Heads of Service, Team Managers, and a wide range of stakeholders.

What skills and experience do you need to have:
· Be enthusiastic, versatile and self-motivated with the ability to work well as part of a team
· Have experience of leading projects that have improved services for young people
· Have experience of partnership working
· Have high level communication and influencing skills
· Educated to degree level or have relevant professional qualification in Information, Advice and Guidance
· Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills with attention to detail
· Excellent IT skills
The Employment and Education Team are based across Derbyshire’s localities, and work flexibly across a network of Council bases, as well as working from home. There'll be an opportunity to discuss future working arrangements at interview.
