Derbyshire is a large authority divided into six localities: Amber Valley, Chesterfield, Erewash, High Peak (Buxton, Glossop, New Mills, and Matlock), Bolsover and North-East, and South Derbyshire.

Our Fostering Service operates across High Peak, South Derbyshire, Northeast Derbyshire & Chesterfield and is made up of the following teams:

- Mainstream Fostering Assessment and Support Team – Inclusive of Retention and Training

- Kinship Team – Inclusive of Kinship Assessment, Support and SGO Post Support

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for 7 new Community Care Worker posts within the Fostering Service – We have the following positions available:

2 x Posts within Foster Family Finding and Duty –The primary aspect of this role is to identify homes for Derbyshire children with Derbyshire foster families.  The role will also involve supporting and providing ad hoc advice and guidance to our Foster Carers in the absence of their allocated Supervising Social Worker. The successful applicants will be based at County Hall in Matlock.

2 x Posts within the County Wide Kinship SGO Post Support Team – The successful applicants will be based, one at the Quad in Chesterfield and the other at Mercian Close in Ilkeston.  The primary focus of the role is to offer support to Derbyshire Kinship Carers who care for children under a Special Guardianship Order. This will involve offering support, guidance and signposting to Kinship carers, inclusive of time limited therapeutic interventions with the families.  The role is fundamental in supporting and valuing our Kinship carers and creating safe and stable homes for children and their families.

3 x Posts within the Foster Family Support Team – This role will involve offering support, guidance and signposting to foster carers across the service, inclusive of time limited therapeutic interventions with the families.  The work will focus on increasing stability for children and helping fostering families to stay together.  These posts are based at County Hall in Matlock.

These full-time posts within the Fostering Service will be supported and will work alongside Fostering Social Workers including the Therapeutic Social Worker, Practice Supervisors and Team Managers.

The successful applicants will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and the ability to work as an effective member of the team.  We are looking for applicants who will be committed to working in partnership with carers to implement the principles of therapeutic parenting and ensure children in Derbyshire are able to safely live in homes which understand and meet their individual needs.  The successful applicants will be supported through reflective case and personal supervision.
