We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Social Worker to join the South Derbyshire South Prevention and Personalisation Team in Adult Social Care.

As a Social Worker you will be undertaking Care Act (2014) assessments and reviews with adults in the community who are in receipt of care. Utilising a strengths-based approach, which considers both the adult’s personal strengths and social and community networks.  Focusing on maximising independence, choice and control will be central to the work you will do.

Fundamental to this post is the ability to assess and manage risk requiring you to have good working knowledge of Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults and the Mental Capacity Act (2005).

You will have excellent communication skills to enable you to work effectively and in partnership with people, families, other professionals, and agencies to promote person-centred outcomes for individuals with care and support needs. The role includes visiting people at home so the ability to travel is essential.

You will have excellent IT skills, be able to adapt in a fast changing environment, be able to organise your workload to keep up with demand, work effectively on your own, and be committed to supporting other team members when required. The team operates a duty rota which you would be part of.

The successful applicant will join a friendly and supportive team. You will be provided with a robust induction, and will have regular supervision, peer support meetings, training, and workshops, and be encouraged to develop your own area of interest and expertise.

This will be a hybrid working role, working from both home and a local office.

Employees have access to a range of benefits and discounts including:

  • Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme
  • 25 days annual leave per year (rising to 30 days after 5 years continuous service) plus 8 bank holidays (pro rata).
  • Flexible working

  • Paid travel expenses if required to travel to other sites
  • Smarter travel scheme including access to the cycle to work scheme
  • Supportive management and team
  • Access to our in-house occupational services which also includes free eye tests, physiotherapy, and counselling
  • Derbyshire rewards – offering hundreds of discounts and cashback
