We are looking for a skilled and experienced Senior Practitioner Social Work to be the practice lead for Derbyshire’s Prison Service Team. The team supports HMP Foston and HMP Sudbury in the south of Derbyshire, HMP Foston is a women’s prison and HMP Sudbury a male open prison, both prisons have plans for substantial increase in estate and the Prison team will need to expand with the increased demand. The Prison team undertakes Derbyshire Care Act duties within the prisons, and involves working with individuals who may live in and be the responsibility of other Local Authorities.
The successful candidate will carry a complex caseload alongside offering professional leadership and support to Social Workers and Social Care Practitioners in the Team. The post involves managing close partnership arrangements both within the prison and agencies external to the prisons. The role will involve onsite work in each prison and the post holder is expected to become a trained key holder within each prison for access. The post holder will also be expected to access the South Derbyshire Area office for offsite working alongside hybrid working from home. The post holder will also be integrated into the area team and will receive and offer support to that service.
