It is an exciting time to join the Bolsover District Council’s Legal team, where you will have an opportunity to learn and develop your skills in a local authority setting

Bolsover District Council’s Legal team is a small but essential part of the authority and you will play an important role providing services to clients across the Council. We are currently recruiting 2 x Solicitors/Legal Executives to join an expanding legal team that is friendly and supportive with a strong team ethic.

The service covers several areas of legal practice, including: commercial property, land disputes, contracts, planning, licensing/regulatory, public sector housing and general criminal/civil litigation – we are looking to hear from Solicitors/Legal Executives with experience in any of these areas who will support the Team’s ambition and passion for making a difference across the Council, providing a high quality legal service.

Applications are welcomed from Solicitors/Legal Executives at all levels of PQE - including those that are newly qualified or those looking to move into local government from another legal sector. 

The Council operates a flexible working policy with hybrid working options with office based time required as and when necessary.

You will need to:

  • Be a qualified (or due to qualify shortly) Solicitor/Legal Executive
  • Be organised, efficient and motivated – able to work under pressure whilst still maintaining a high level of service delivery
  • Be a team player with a pro-active can-do approach
  • Have excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively at all levels across the council including with elected members, senior leadership team and other stakeholders
