An excellent opportunity has arisen to join the Economic Development Team at Bolsover District Council – a district flanked by the Peak District to the East, Sherwood Forest to the West, and a whole range of visitor attractions of our own, including Hardwick Hall, Creswell Crags and Bolsover Castle.
The post holder will be responsible for delivering key initiatives and projects identified in the council’s prospectus – Vision Bolsover as well as the district’s Tourism Strategy and Business Engagement Strategy. The successful candidate will take the lead on activities to engage with tourism and visitor economy businesses to support their continued growth.

The post holder will be required to work as part of an economic development team who are tasked with driving forward ambitious and challenging initiatives. The post holder will be tasked with championing the district, and working with organisations such as the Destination Management Organisation (DMO) – Visit Peak District and Derbyshire – to raise the profile of the district as a destination.
To be successful you will need:
- To be educated to a degree level or equivalent and possess knowledge of local, regional and national strategies and policies relevant to tourism and the visitor economy;
- Proven practical experience of running targeted marketing and promotional campaigns to a tourism and visitor economy audience;
- Experience of developing business cases and funding submissions and in managing and monitoring externally funded initiatives;
- and, Excellent communication skills and proven presentation and negotiating skills, across a wide ranging audience.
