The Council is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic StreetScene Apprentice within our Grounds Maintenance team.
Candidates should have knowledge of and an interest in Streetscene operations. You will help maintain grassed areas, sports pitches, planted beds, gardens, churchyards, derelict sites, amenity trees and hedges. You’ll learn how to use a range of tools and equipment safely and effectively, working alongside experienced colleagues to broaden your knowledge This is an excellent opportunity to learn practical skills, gain industry‑recognised qualifications, and build a long‑term career in Streetscene services. Support will be provided to complete an apprenticeship in a relevant area such as horticulture or arboriculture.
To be successful you will need:
- A current full driving Category B License (or working towards passing within 12 months of being suitable driving age).
- Good verbal communication skills and experience of team working.
- A demonstrable enthusiasm for Grounds Maintenance and willingness to develop the appropriate skills, including undertaking Level 2 qualification in Horticulture or Arboriculture.
- Basic standard of education, including GCSE Grade C or above (Level 4-9) or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics (or expected grades).
- Ability to sustain high levels of physical output over prolonged periods.
