We’re delighted to be recruiting 4 apprentices to join the Derbyshire County Councils Highways Department, as a Civil Engineering Technicians completing a Civil Engineering Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship.

The Civil Engineering team is responsible for designing, planning, and managing construction projects that maintain and improve Derbyshire’s infrastructure. This includes roads, bridges, drainage systems, and other essential public works.

As a Civil Engineering Technician apprentice, you will assist in the delivery of various infrastructure projects across the county. This may involve helping with site surveys, preparing technical drawings, supporting project management activities, and ensuring that all work meets regulatory and safety standards.

What skills and experience will you need? A minimum of 5 GCSEs, including Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above) is required. You should have a strong interest in civil engineering, problem-solving skills, and an aptitude for working with technical information and software. Prior experience is not necessary, as full training will be provided.

You will be required to travel across the County visiting road construction and civil engineering sites, as work demands.

A UK Full Driving Manual Gearbox Licence is required.
