About the Role
At Derbyshire County Council, we’re committed to delivering services that make a real difference to the lives of the residents and communities across Derbyshire. Our people are at the heart of everything we do, and we’re proud to create an environment where colleagues feel supported, valued and able to thrive.
As our Customer Service Advisor, you’ll join our Traded Adverts & DBS Team, providing an important service to managers, colleagues, schools, academies and external partners across Derbyshire.
This is a varied role combining customer service, recruitment advertising, safeguarding compliance and problem-solving. You’ll support customers through DBS applications, process traded recruitment adverts, provide advice on onboarding and legislative requirements, and help ensure our processes are accurate, timely and compliant.
What You’ll Be Doing
This is what your day will look like as our Customer Service Advisor:
- Setting up DBS applications, monitoring their progress and helping ensure checks are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Providing clear advice and guidance to managers, schools, academies, colleagues and external partners on DBS requirements, onboarding, policy and relevant legislation.
- Processing traded recruitment adverts and supporting customers through the advertising and shortlisting process.
- Interpreting policy and legislative requirements, resolving queries and knowing when more complex issues need to be escalated.
- Working closely with teams including Recruitment, Payroll, managers, schools and external umbrella organisations to deliver a joined-up customer experience.
What We’re Looking For
You’ll be well suited to this role if you have:
- Experience in recruitment, HR, DBS/safeguarding, customer service, administration or another busy service environment.
- A strong customer focus, with the ability to explain processes and requirements clearly and professionally to a wide range of customers.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
- Good organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands, meet deadlines and maintain accurate records.
We know that some people don’t apply for jobs unless they meet every requirement. If you’re excited about this role but aren’t sure you meet everything listed, we’d still love to hear from you.
