We are thrilled to announce an opportunity for a skilled and dedicated School Business Assistant Clerk to the Chair of Governors to join our inclusive school community. This role is essential in supporting the administrative processes relating to school governance, as well as contributing to our school's Christian vision and values.

About Hartshorne CE Primary School
We are a welcoming and inclusive environment for approximately 108 pupils aged 4-11, and our Governor Run Nursery. We believe in providing a safe, stimulating environment where learning is enjoyable, inclusive, and engaging.

Your Role as a Clerk to the Chair of Governors
In this vital role, you will:

  • Provide expert governance advice to the Board, ensuring compliance with current legislation and best practice.
  • Prepare agendas, take minutes and manage all administrative aspects of governors' meetings and committees.
  • Maintain accurate records of governance, including membership, training, DBS checks and conflicts of interest.
  • Support the Chair and Headteacher by coordinating the work of the Governing Board and following up on actions.
  • Act as first point of contact for governors, providing induction and ongoing support.

Candidate Requirements
We seek a candidate who has:

  • Strong administrative and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Professional communication skills and ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Understanding of governance procedures and educational legislation (or willingness to learn).
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Flexible approach to work with availability to attend evening meetings.
  • Competent IT skills including experience with document management and email.
