It is with great excitement that I write to you regarding an exceptional opportunity at Sudbury Primary School. We are seeking a dedicated and organised individual to join our school community as the Clerk to the Chair of Governors, a role that is crucial in supporting our governing body and upholding our school's vision and values.

Sudbury Primary School is a vibrant and inclusive educational institution serving approximately 50 pupils aged 4-11. We pride ourselves on creating a happy, secure environment where learning is both effective and enjoyable. Our goal is to help each student reach their full potential while fostering a strong sense of community.

At the heart of our school are five core values, chosen by our school community:

  1. Compassion: We promote a feeling of family and community, actively encouraging good manners, courtesy, and consideration for others.
  2. Respect: We recognise and honour individual differences, developing awareness, understanding, and respect for other religions and cultures.
  3. Resilience: We create a stimulating and challenging learning environment where each child can develop their full potential and overcome obstacles.
  4. Responsibility: We encourage pupils to take ownership of their learning, maintain consistently high expectations, and be proud of their achievements.
  5. Integrity: We value each child as an individual, helping them develop self-esteem, confidence, and independence, and supporting them in making informed decisions leading to a healthy lifestyle.

These values underpin our whole school vision, which is based on equality and celebrates diversity. We encourage curiosity, set high expectations, and prepare our students for success in the modern world by promoting respect, independence, and a love for learning.

The role of Clerk to the Chair of Governors is vital in ensuring the smooth functioning of our governing body and supporting the school's mission. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Providing administrative support to the Chair of Governors and the governing body
  2. Preparing and distributing meeting agendas and minutes
  3. Maintaining accurate records of governing body proceedings
  4. Advising on governance legislation and procedural matters

We are looking for an individual who is:

  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Proficient in administrative tasks and IT skills
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and work with discretion
  • An effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills
  • Familiar with or willing to learn about school governance
  • Committed to upholding and promoting our school's values

As a community school, we value the strong partnerships we have built with parents, local organisations, and the wider Sudbury community. Your role will be instrumental in supporting these relationships and contributing to the vibrant atmosphere of our school.

If you are passionate about education and eager to contribute to the success of our school, we encourage you to apply for this position. Your work will directly support the governance of Sudbury Primary School and, by extension, the educational journey of our pupils.

For more information about the position, please contact our school office on 01288 585251 . We look forward to hearing from you and potentially welcoming you to our school community, where every child is valued and nurtured.

Provisional Interview Date: 18 October 2024
