At The Village Federation, we are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed School Business Assistant (Clerk to the Governing Body). The successful candidate will be accountable to the Governing Body, working effectively with them, the chair of governors and Headteacher. The Governing Body is effective and contributes fully to the federation’s success. The main role is to provide professional clerking services to the Governing Body (and committees where relevant).

The successful candidate will be able to take accurate minutes during meetings to produce meaningful, well- presented minutes for distribution. You will liaise with the Chair of Governors in order to collate and distribute agendas and associated paperwork in advance of meetings. You will maintain the “Governor Hub” app for correspondence, files, users and training records.

The actual hours worked are flexible, provided that you are available to attend all full governing body meetings held throughout the year, which are usually held in the early evening.

We will arrange relevant training events for you to attend, organised by the Local Authority. Our ideal candidate would have experience in a similar role, although training will be provided. It is essential that you are competent in Microsoft office applications, digital filing systems, and have access to a secure computer with a reliable internet connection.

Confidentiality and reliability are important for this role, alongside a good understanding of GDPR.

The Village Federation believes in providing a secure and caring atmosphere for families, staff, governors, our neighbours and most of all, the children in our care.

The Village Federation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our pupils.

Informal discussions and visits to the school are warmly welcomed and encouraged. Please contact the Federation Business Manager at business@thevillagefederation.co.uk  to arrange an appointment to visit or to discuss the post.

Provisional Interview Date: Week commencing 17 June 2024

Due to this post having access to children and/or vulnerable adults, the successful candidate will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check. The possession of a criminal record will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this post, as all cases are judged individually according to the nature of the role and information provided.
