An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Business Services Team for a committed and flexible individual to provide efficient and effective administrative support to the Adult Community Education Centre based in Fairfield.  On occasion there will be requirement to work at the Adult Community Education Centre in Glossop. 

This post will be worked within the Centre, 8:45am to 4.30pm Tuesday & Thursday. 

Derbyshire Adult Community Education (Daces) provides a range of online and in centre learning opportunities for the residents of Derbyshire.  Our learners range from 14 to 90+ and come from all different backgrounds.  We offer a wide range of vocational courses from entry level maths and English through to GCSE, Access to Nursing, Understanding Autism, Digital Skills, Plastering and a whole range of other courses designed to help people get back into work or raise their career opportunities.  We also offer a range of non-vocational courses such as languages, arts and crafts.  The final string to our bow is the 14-19 study programme.  The study programme provides alternative education for young people aged 14-19 that are not in mainstream education. 

The Business Services team are responsible for all aspects of supporting the provision, managers, and learners.  The role is always busy and sometimes challenging, so resilience and a sense of humour will be critical. In return you will get to work with a great team of people in a role that really does make a difference to people’s lives. 

What could I be doing: 

  • Reception Cover
  • Overseeing petty cash, receipting, and banking of income
  • Supporting the enrolment of learners’
  • Supporting teaching and learning staff through efficient and timely completion of set administrative tasks
  • Tracking achievements 

Skills and experience we are looking for: 

  • Excellent IT skills, which includes the use of Microsoft packages.
  • An ability to work as part of a team undertaking a wide range of administrative duties.
  • Experience of working in a busy office environment.
  • Good communication skills both written and oral.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • An ability to prioritise and work to deadlines.
  • An ability to interpret information and analyse data.
  • An ability to work within organisational policies and procedures.
  • An understanding of confidentiality, GDPR and Data Protection.
  • NVQ Level 2 qualification or relevant office experience.
  • Enthusiasm and transferable skills
