An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Road Safety and Data Team to appoint two dynamic and committed individuals to support the council’s road safety function as a Road Safety Officer.
This dedicated team delivers road safety education, training and publicity to all road users in Derbyshire. You will be an effective communicator with excellent organisational skills and capable of working on your own and as part of a team. The purpose of this role is to provide an innovative, effective, and efficient road safety service. You will work closely with colleagues in the team who deliver road safety, as well as colleagues in the Collison Data Team and the Derbyshire and Derby Road Safety Partnership. You will be encouraged and supported to develop and become an important member of this friendly team.
What will I be doing:
- Develop and deliver road safety education, training and publicity to children and adults in a variety of settings
- Devise, develop and deliver road safety training initiatives such as First Gear, and Driving Safer for Longer
- Promote and encourage road safety at public exhibitions and events
- Work with partners in the Derbyshire and Derby Road Safety Partnership to develop and deliver road safety initiatives to achieve casualty reduction targets

What skills and experience do you need to have:
- Experience of working as a trainer and working with external partners
- Knowledge of road safety education, training, and publicity
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills with attention to detail
- Be enthusiastic, versatile and self-motivated with the ability to work well as part of a team
