Applications are invited for the post of Community Development Worker – Healthy North East Derbyshire. The post is initially funded until 31st March 2021, with scope to extend the contract subject to review and availability of resources. 

The Council is extending its commitment to contribute to improving the health and wellbeing within communities in North East Derbyshire. The post holder will be leading community development initiatives, working closely with local people, groups and organisations predominantly in the wards of Holmewood and Heath and Shirland but also with scope to operate in other communities across the District. 

We are looking for a self-starter with experience of community engagement work and delivering outcomes, through a range of activities such as events, facilitated training and development of groups. Ideally the post holder will have knowledge of public health issues affecting communities and using asset based approaches, including supporting volunteers. The post holder will be expected to work some evenings and weekends in accordance with the requirements of the service. 

A casual mileage rate will be payable for travel associated with this post, which could be converted to other forms of transport.  The post holder will receive additional professional support and training from the Derbyshire County Council Public Health Team, from whom funding for the post is received. The post is funded until 31st March 2021. 

Due to this post having access to children and/or vulnerable adults, candidates will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
