Derbyshire Safeguarding Adult Board Independent Chair Position
Derbyshire Safeguarding Adults Board (DSAB) is seeking to appoint an experienced and effective independent chair due to the retirement of the current post holder. This is an exciting opportunity to drive forward the long-term strategic direction of adult safeguarding in Derbyshire.
The Independent Chair role provides a statutory function and will ensure that the DSAB operates effectively and discharges its duties in line with statutory guidance (The Care Act 2014) and good practice. The Derbyshire Safeguarding Adults Board (DSAB) has a key role in ensuring that agencies work effectively together to safeguard adults across its area from abuse and neglect.
The Independent Chair will facilitate and promote partnership working, challenge and hold partners to account and act as an independent voice for the Board.. The role requires a leader with resilience, enthusiasm, commitment, and determination to drive forward the Safeguarding Adults agenda.
The successful candidate will have:
· Experience of leading and managing in a large public, independent, or voluntary sector organisation at a senior level.
· Proven experience of chairing complex partnership meetings.
· Extensive knowledge and experience of applying the legislation and guidance in relation to Safeguarding Adults.
· Ability to actively promote engagement with adults who need care and support, their families and advocates, to ensure their voices are heard and acted upon within the Board’s work.
The DSAB welcomes applications from individuals with experience from a range of disciplines, who can demonstrate our shared values and offer high challenge and support.
If you wish to apply via our DCC application form, please click on the attached form titled 'Application Form' and open as a Word document. It is anticipated that this role will be required to cover approximately 24 days per annum (on average 2 days per month). The specific commitment required will be agreed as part of the appointment process. The initial appointment will be for 3 years with potential to extend on mutual agreement going forward. The appointment will have a 6 month probationary period.
To maintain the integrity of this appointment, applicants must not be currently employed by any of the agencies represented on the DSAB Partnership and must be able to demonstrate that they can undertake this role independently. If you have any further queries, please contact Natalie Gee, Derbyshire Safeguarding Adult Board Manager by email DerbyshireSAB@derbyshire.gov.uk
Due to this post having administrative privileges within the Council’s IT systems, and in order to comply with the Public Services Network requirements, the successful candidate will be required to undertake a Basic criminal record check. The possession of a criminal record will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this post, as all cases are judged individually according to the nature of the role and information provided.
