Are you an experienced project manager with a passion for the environment?

If so, we have an exciting opportunity to help Derbyshire Dales District Council continue its journey to being a net zero organisation by 2030.

We have a series of funded projects underway to help deliver this goal and are looking for someone who can not only drive these forward but also develop a future workstream. The successful candidate will be instrumental in leading our ambition to be a net zero district, working across a number of sectors to build key partnerships.

The Council is committed to enhancing the biodiversity of the district through our Nature Delivery Plan and the post holder will lead the delivery of this plan, seeking opportunities for funding and collaborative working. We are looking for a highly motivated candidate who can show us a real passion for environmental issues and who will be able to successfully engage with the Council, partners, businesses, residents and the wider community to influence positive action.

Our new ambitious Corporate Plan has a ‘green thread’ running right through it, so the successful candidate will be required to work across the full range of Council services, taking on the responsibility for driving forward our plans and monitoring and reporting on progress.

You should have:

  • A passion for the environment with a sound working knowledge of climate change and biodiversity issues
  • Highly developed project management skills
  • Effective communication and inter-personal skills
  • Experience of multi-agency working
  • Enthusiastic, creative and have a positive approach!

We have a strong ‘One Team, One Council’ culture.  Alongside the excellent quality of life, we can offer you the opportunity to further develop your career within an excellent and family friendly authority, with the benefits of hybrid working, flexitime, personal development and CPD opportunities, free staff car parking at Matlock Town Hall, and a confidential counselling service. That’s possibly why 87% of our staff feel supported, 85% are satisfied with the District Council as an employer, and 88% know their role contributes to high quality services in the Derbyshire Dales (Staff Survey 2023).

We offer an excellent quality of life within a family-friendly organisation that delivers high quality services and where the right candidate will be able to make a real impact.
