Purpose of the Post

To lead on the preparation of funding applications on behalf of Derbyshire Sport in order to meet the annual targets for new income available in the county and to help achieve the objectives within the Plan for Sport, Physical Activity Plan and any other relevant strategies. To lead on advising and supporting partners and other organisations in developing high quality grant applications where the proposed schemes would benefit sport and physical activity in Derbyshire.

Duties and Responsibilities - Specific

Play the lead role in researching and developing a comprehensive understanding of the national, regional and local sources of funding which may be available to support sports and physical activity programmes in Derbyshire.
To make this knowledge and information available to officers within Derbyshire Sport, partners organisations and voluntary sector sports organisations within the county.
Undertake the role of lead officer in developing a strong network of funding contacts across Derbyshire and the East Midlands region.
Develop an understanding of the funding priorities and programmes within the strategies and plans developed by the Derbyshire Sport core team and key partner organisations and match these to the funding opportunities.
Take a lead responsibility for the preparation and submission of high quality applications to grant distributing bodies.
Ensure that all monitoring reports required as a result of successful applications are completed and returned accurately and on time.
Work in conjunction with the Derbyshire Sport core team and officers within partner organisations in order to provide advice and guidance to support community groups and voluntary sports organisations for them to prepare their own applications to grant awarding bodies.
Monitor the success in obtaining and utilising funds from external bodies and publish this information on a regular basis.
Collate and maintain databases, filing systems and other records associated with the duties of the post.
Prepare reports, correspondence, financial data, statistical information, returns etc as necessary and report the findings to the partnership.
Attend meetings, working groups, working parties, etc as necessary and progress any issues arising.
To represent Derbyshire Sport on any relevant regional forums if required.
METHODS OF WORKING
The post holder will be expected to: • Adopt a participative and collaborative style of management encouraging team working. • Develop appropriate management information systems, maintain confidentiality and observe data protection guidelines. • Take an active part in appraising their own work priorities and targets in accordance with the established supervision guidelines. • Undertake any necessary training associated with the duties of the post. • Ensure all work complies with standing orders, financial regulations and Derbyshire County Council instructions.

Duties and Responsibilities - General

To adhere to existing working practices, methods, procedures, undertake relevant training and development activities and to respond positively to new and alternative systems.
It will be necessary to work with information technology and associated systems in accordance with County Council policies.
To co-operate with the council in complying with relevant health and safety legislation, policies and procedures in the performance of the duties of the post.
To carry out the duties and responsibilities of the post in compliance with the County Council's equal opportunities policies.
To maintain confidentiality and observe data protection and associated guidelines where appropriate.
To understand and comply with the County Council's environmental policies.
To carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities within the overall function, commensurate with the grading and level of responsibilities of the post.
